Busanga Plains is a seasonal wetland area in the far northern part of Kafue National Park. The plains are dotted with small 'islands' dominated by enormous Wild Fig trees and Wild Date palms, and surrounded by fields of grass and papyrus. During most of the year the vast plain is flooded, making it a perfect sanctuary for game and bird-life, but from July to October it is accessible by 4X4.
This is an ideal time to spot large numbers of wildlife, including red lechwe, puku, roan and sable antelope, zebra, blue wildebeest, eland and huge herds of buffalo. Lion are common, as are cheetah and leopard. It ranks as one of Africa's most remote and beautiful wilderness areas.
Tailor made and affordable packages to include the spectacular Busanga Plains and other camps in Kafue National Park can be arranged. Please contact us for further details.
